Attorney Stanley M. Silver has had the distinction of representing individuals and corporations in some of the most high profile cases in Seminole and Orange County, Florida history.
As a criminal defense attorney, he was lead counsel in the case of State of Florida vs. James Edward Crow Jr., a man accused in the murder of young Jessica Knot in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The case was a landmark for many reasons because it was the first case in Seminole County, Florida history dealing with evidentiary issues surrounding garbage bag analysis, the admissibility of mitochondrial DNA (hair follicle DNA analysis), and voice exemplar identification. The case was extensively covered by both local and national news media, including but not limited to, The Orlando Sentinel, The Miami Herald and all local television news programs. The notoriety of the case was featured in the popular television series “Forensic Files” in an episode which still runs frequently today.
As a civil litigator, Mr. Silver had the privilege of serving as lead defense counsel in the case of State of Florida Department of Insurance vs. The IFFHBT, (International Fund of Florida Health Benefit Trust; and George V. Doherty. The case garnered world wide attention featuring individuals, law firms and corporations located in Miami, Tallahassee, Atlanta and London. The civil action spanned the State of Florida from tip to tip with simultaneous actions pending in Orlando, Sanford, and Tallahassee (Leon, Seminole, and Orange County) Florida in both state and federal court. The case received local and national attention because it was the largest collapse of a Health Benefit Trust company in the history of the state of Florida. Mr. Silver was interviewed by print media both locally and nationally and was prominently featured in the ABC News television program 20/20.
